HARDCORE NEWS
< 01.05.08 >
Norma Jean has entered the new year by announcing they will start to write some new stuff. The new songs will “make you want to tear the pouch off of a kangaroo.” This after you’ve "punched a dolphin in the blowhole" from listening to "The Anti Mother," which is also now available on vinyl. THey have also announced that you could win an autographed acoustic guitar from the band, which is up for auction to help benefit the American Cancer Society. Get details here.
Ever wonder what the heck has been going on with Bloodlined Calligraphy? Well, after much silence from the band, they will be playing a couple of live shows again. Since there last album "Ypsilanti," only their bassist Eric remains. After taking Ally’s spot as lead vocalist for a year, Ellen left, and now the band is fronted by Nina Cislaghi. For more details, check here.
Forever Midnight Sun has just announced the departure of Aaron and drummer Kory who are both pursuing other side projects. That leaves them down to just 2 guitarist and lead vox who are currently over in China on a missions trip. A farewell show for the two lost members will be sometime in the near future.
Several videos you may want to check out include an interview with Tim Lambesis from As I Lay Dying in his own studios, an interview with Before Their Eyes and the band performing their song "City In A Snowglobe," live. Destroy The Runner’s song "Columbia" has been made by a fan and thrown for downloadable play on Guitar Hero World Tour. Check out the vid here. Underoath footage shot in South America.
Sleeping Giant is currently in the studio working on their next album. But before they went, they decided to follow in A Plea For Purging’s footsteps and make their very own "Cribs" video which can be seen here.
After two temporary vocalists filling in, Gwen Stacy has finally announced their new vocalist. Their first fill in Bobby, after being with the band for a year, stepped down in November. Then Keith Jones (formerly with Oceana) has been filling in for the last several months on tour and will be stepping aside as well. Their new vocalist is now Geoff Jenkins who is coming from playing guitar for 2 years in Once Nothing. Which leads to an interesting dilemma considering that at the end of December Once Nothing will also be losing their drummer and bassist. That leaves only lead vocalist Todd Lowry for right now. Will he try and rebuild the band from the ground up or will this be the end of Once Nothing?
Even though Becoming The Archetype just released their new album "Dichotomy," that isn’t slowing guitarist Count Seth down. He is working on new songs with his more mellow side project, Anchors. To hear their new song "Virtues and Violence," click here.
It is official after 15 years of hiatus, The Crucified has reunited. The band features Mark Solomon from Stavesacre and Neon Horse, and is proclaimed to be the reason Sonny from P.O.D. started his relationship with God. To listen to some old songs check here, or check their official website here.
Sever Your Ties have posted a new blog which talks about taking some downtime for the holidays and possibly working on their next album.

Also, if you’ve been looking for their album "Shout The Truth," it is currently only available on iTunes or at one of their shows. The physical album will be in stores until sometime next year.
Everybody loves August Burns Red’s metal cover of "Carol of the Bells." Well they have just announced another unexpected cover song. They have redone a song from believe it or not…Britney Spears. The band recorded “Hit Me Baby One More Time” and hopefully this time, the song won’t suck. The metal version of the song will be released on the new Pop Goes Punk 2 compilation which will be out March 10th. Get details here.
Hope For The Dying also did their own cover of cover of "Carol Of The Bells." It’s called "Have A Very Metal Christmas" and you can hear the song here.
